Legendary retired center Shaquille O'Neal has been a UFC fan for many years and took advantage of the promotion visiting the host city of Superbowl LI by attending the action-packed MMA event. What's more, Big Shaq went into full fanboi mode, posing and joking with UFC fighters for the cameras.
He even got caught by the television cameras doing some shadowboxing during the show. Below, Shaq towers in between strawweight Nina Ansaroff (L) and women's world bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, who are also partners.
Later, however, things between Nunes and Shaq got a bit more heated (below) with "Leoa" locking a rear-naked choke on Shaq's neck, forcing the tap.
After surviving that scare, Shaq caught up backstage with strawweight Felice Herrig shortly after her decision victory over Alexa Grasso. The NBA superstar has reportedly trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu for years and also openly fantasized about fighting in MMA.
It's fair to say that if he ever competed in the UFC, he and Felice Herrig would be in different weight classes. I mean, perhaps before the IV ban, Shaq could have made strawweight, but now, he's definitely a bantamweight or featherweight.
