The reigning #UFC women's bantamweight champion brought her shiny gold belt and slick jiu-jitsu moves to Live with Kelly on Thursday morning, proving #AmandaNunes is finally getting some time in the spotlight.
Following her brutal, 48-second beatdown of #RondaRousey at #UFC207, the Brazilian bruiser has seen an uptick in mainstream media attention, and she isn't wasting a minute of it. After a fun interview with host Kelly Ripa and guest host Christian Slater, Nunes showed off her deadly arsenal for the audience and put the #MrRobot star in a tight rear naked choke.
"Wait! I'm not ready for this!" Slater screeched before tapping out.
Prior to the beatdown, Nunes chatted with the hosts about her huge win over Rousey in December. Ripa revealed that she actually ordered the pay-per-view event and was shocked by how quickly the fight went down.
"It was over fast," Ripa said. "We rented that fight and I think I got popcorn and it was over."
"I'm sorry," Nunes jokingly replied.
As far as Nunes' future in the Octagon is concerned, "The Lioness" told Ripa that she'd be willing to fight past opponents who own wins over her, such as Cat Zingano or Alexis Davis. However, Nunes doesn't feel too compelled to face them since defeating Rousey, as the former champ beat both women in the past.
"The girls that beat me, Ronda Rousey beat," Nunes said. "And I beat Ronda Rousey. It paid off."
What didn't come up, though, is her aspiration to join #ConorMcGregor as being a two-division UFC champion. Nunes recently said that she wants to make women's MMA history by taking on the winner of Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie for the women's featherweight title. For now, it looks like Nunes is content with just beating up former '90s box office stars.
