It's been a mighty long road that has led us to Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson at UFC 209. To recap entirely would take far more words than you'd be willing to read, but suffice it to say, it's a story right out of a Hollywood screenwriter's notebook — a story rife with bad blood, trash talk, and outright bribery.
But the past is the past. All you need to know is that the two lightweight competitors will finally be throwing fists on March 4th in Paradise, Nevada.
And now, they've had their first faceoff.
The noise you just heard was me squealing like this:
Things I took away from this staredown:
- T-Ferg's future is so bright that he has to wear shades. Let's hope he does not bring this level of confidence into the fight itself because wearing sunglasses during a fight is highly illegal (I think).
- Khabib seems to be under the impression that sunglasses are a sign of cowardice.
- Khabib is better at wearing suits than Ferguson is at wearing vests.
- Dana White has been a New England Patriots fan since at least the early 90's and finds their new logo to be unsatisfactory.
So yeah, most of my takeaways were fashion-based, but let's not act like this isn't shaping up to be one of the best fights of the year.
