It's been over two years since Tim Kennedy stepped into the Octagon, but for the first few minutes of his battle against Kelvin Gastelum it was as if he never left. Eventually, the Hunting Hitler star, Special Forces Ranger and overall interesting guy seemed to completely gas against the 25-year-old Gastelum, and things went bad quickly.

After controlling much of the beginning of the fight, things switched in favor of Gastelum's boxing near the end of the first. Kennedy's eye was swelling (the opposite eye that had its orbital bone broken by Yoel Romero at UFC 178), and Gastelum picked the veteran apart with sharp combos and speed.

The irony of the fight was 's anger at Gastelum for being unprofessional by missing weight for a third time at . That cost Donald Cerrone a fight, and put his teammate Tim Kennedy as the larger man against the former winner and undefeated middleweight fighter.

It was truly a beatdown.

Perhaps at 37-years-old, it's time for Tim to hang up the gloves. He's said retirement will come soon, and he doesn't need to fight anymore. He has work with CBS, the History Channel... Doomsday bunkers...

As for Gastelum, he wants to go back down to welterweight, where he's firmly in control of a top ten spot.
