The entire MMA community wept at the disheartening news when Khabib Nurmagomedov had to pull out of UFC 209. After a long mourning process, our fickle family eventually forgot about it. Tony Ferguson seems to have moved on as well, undergoing new new and innovative training methods. But the question remains, who is he training for? Are the UFC really going to risk booking their fight again? Not only does Nurmagomedov promise to finish what they started after he's been rebuild bigger and stronger, but he won't accept any fighter other than Ferguson.

"Now I am being treated in a medical facility, going through rehabilitation. The exact date of the return is uncertain, but it will be in the fall. I will devote the summer to training, and will hold a fight in the fall. It will be a repeat of the battle, in which I could not attend before. No other contender interests me. If you started business, you need to finish it." — Khabib Nurmagomedov speaking to RT, as translated by Karim Zidan of Bloody Elbow.

While we all enjoyed the build-up, the idea of starting it all over again sounds exhausting. However, there's no doubt it's the best lightweight fight the UFC can currently book while Conor McGregor is out boxing that one guy. After , we're sure they'll have a back-up just in case can't make it to the cage. Well, at least we hope. Don't get too high, Nate Diaz.
