Khabib, we missed you. This was a performance for the ages and your bid at the UFC lightweight title can no longer be denied — no matter who holds the belt.

It wasn't looking good early, however. Michael Johnson almost ruined Khabib Nurmagomedov's first relevant fight in the Octagon since Khabib defeated Rafael dos Anjos in April, 2014 with speed that nearly killed the Dagestani fighter, but then the grappling of Khabib took over.

Johnson was active and wobbled the legs of Khabib with some stiff shots, putting his undefeated record in jeopardy.

Then, the special brand of punishment Khabib is famous for took over. This is what we saw to end the first round, and that's how the fight went for the next 5-8 minutes.

Khabib was brutalizing Johnson with non-stop ground-and-pound to the point where the fight could've been stopped at any time in the second round, and well into the third round, that brutality continued.

Eventually, Khabib stopped the ground and pound, locked in a kimura, and Johnson thankfully tapped right before having his arm snapped.

After the fight, Khabib plopped his wig on Joe Rogan and called out Conor McGregor, calling him a chicken and the easiest fight in the lightweight division.

Please, MMA Gods. Make that fight happen no matter what happens tonight.
