Whether it's beating up bad guys or fighting off those pesky thetans, #TomCruise is always down for a good fight.
The action movie superstar stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his new film Jack Reacher: Never Go Back on Tuesday night, and admitted to the late-night host that he doesn't get tired of watching himself kick butt on the big screen. In fact, he enjoys it quite a bit.
"It's very satisfying," Cruise joked to #JimmyKimmel. "I grew up watching like Shane, Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood, just the kind of character [who beats up] the guy that really deserves it."
"Just in the movies, though," he added.
In order to make his beatdowns look believable at the movie theaters, the Mission Impossible star can't slouch when it comes to training.
Kimmel brought up his interview with Cruise's Jack Reacher co-star Cobie Smulders from the previous night, who revealed that the actor is insanely fast on the treadmill. Smulders claimed that Cruise can hit a top speed of around 30 mph, so the comedian decided to do some investigating to see if that was true.
Kimmel tried his best to get the 54-year-old film icon to confirm Smulders' story, but to no avail.
"There's no need to be humble, you are beating people up throughout this whole movie," Kimmel quipped. "Tell us how fast you are Tom."
"I can get pretty fast," Cruise replied, an appropriately smooth answer from the Top Gun legend.
Just like the age-old question of how many licks it takes to get the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know how fast Tom Cruise can actually run.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back hits theaters October 21.
