Apparently there are two fighting fitness freaks in the Northcutt family.
Colbey Northcutt, the sister of UFC star #SageNorthcutt, is set to make her professional mixed martial arts debut this summer, according to MMAFighting.com. While there's no word yet on who she'll face inside the cage, her pro debut is tentatively scheduled to be a bantamweight battle at a June event for Legacy Fighting Alliance.
Although the 24-year-old is 4-1 as an amateur fighter, she hasn't fought since 2014, choosing instead to step away from the sport in order to focus on her studies.
Despite her recent abscence from MMA, the older Northcutt has always wanted to become a UFC star, even before her brother's rise in popularity.
"To fight in the UFC and be a UFC champ, that was my dream long before women were in the UFC," she said in a 2013 interview. " Hopefully that will happen in the next couple years."
When Colbey does step into the cage for the first time as a professional, expect her bro and best bud Sage to be in her corner.
"We are definitely best friends. We grew up fighting with each other. We do absolutely everything together," she said. "At first, we would bicker and fight a little, but now we make each other better constantly. He’s a perfect training partner for me."
