Bellator's Patricio "Pitbull" Freire has an invitation for interim UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo. He wants the fighter, who has recently announced his desire to leave the UFC and MMA altogether, to join Bellator - and fight him.
"MMA is not only about UFC. I'm waiting for you," Freire wrote on his official Twitter account. He also included a poster for the potential fight with the hashtag "#whatif
Aldo asked the UFC to release him from his contract this week after being passed over, yet again, for a promised rematch with current featherweight champ, Conor McGregor. Aldo must wait for McGregor to face lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. Jose was previously undefeated before facing McGregor at UFC 194
Freire is coming off a loss to UFC veteran Benson Henderson at Bellator 160 after he broke his tibia in the second round, and was forced from the fight. He currently has a 25-4 record.
If Aldo does decide to leave the UFC, I hope he will continue fighting elsewhere. He's also been invited to fight in Rizin by Wanderlei Silva.
