She may have locked down a book deal and an appearance on the Food Network's Chopped, but we haven't heard much about the fighting future of one Paige VanZant since she was choked out cold by Michelle Waterson at UFC Sacramento in December. In fact, some critics seemed to think that 12 Gauge's most recent loss might be the result of her choosing to pursue so many other opportunities, and could be an early signal in her eventual departure from the sport altogether.
Last night, however, the former Dancing With the Stars runner-up took to Twitter to reveal that she would, in fact, be stepping back into the Octagon, and was currently shopping for opponents to make her return against.
Of course, VanZant being the star that she is, it wasn't long before she caught the attention of former Invicta strawweight champ and cosplay enthusiast Angela Hill.
Hill, who re-signed with the UFC late last year, and saw her four-fight win streak snapped by Jessica Andrade in one of the wildest fights of 2017 back at UFC Houston last month, was not the only fighter to throw her hat in the proverbial ring. Fellow TUF 20 alum Tecia Torres – who holds victories over both Hill (at UFC 188) and Vanzant (at Invicta 4) – also chimed in, looking to build on her recent victory over Bec Rawlings at, you guessed it, UFC Houston.
VanZant has yet to respond to either callout as of this write-up, but one would expect she'll be in a hurry to erase the memory of her loss to Waterson with another flashy KO. The only question is, who's it gonna be against?
