Kenny Florian may have enjoyed a largely successful career as an MMA fighter, but his latest venture into the world of competitive grappling definitely didn't go as he might have hoped.
Nearly six years removed from his final appearance in the Octagon, the 40-year-old UFC commentator traded in his gloves for a gi over the weekend, competing in the Abu Dhabi World Championships against decorated grappler and fellow fighter Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro. Unfortunately for Florian, the bout didn't exactly play out as well as his recent sumo match with Daniel Cormier.
In a highly competitive but ultimately short-lived match, the TUF 1 finalist and former title challenger was choked unconscious by Ribeiro a little over four minutes into their qualifying bout. Luckily for "Kenflo", the loss appeared to have little to no effect on his magnificent coiffure, which remains one of the most beautiful to ever grace the mat.
While there's no shame in losing to a grappler of RIbeiro's pedigree, you can almost guarantee that Florian's UFC on FOX co-host, Daniel Cormier, will have something to say about it on this week's edition of UFC Tonight.
