In the world of combat sports, every knockout is truly its own, unique, unconsciousness-inducing snowflake. From time to time, however, we are gifted a KO that truly defies the odds, our expectations, or even the common laws of physics. That's what the 'Insane KO of the Day' is all about.
Today's KO: Mishal Alfad Gets Taken to Suplex City
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: MMA needs to start borrowing more from the WWE. If the recent quadruple roundhouse kick KO and double Northern Lights Suplex KO featured in this column alone have proven anything, it's that WWE techniques will work almost 100 percent of the time when executed in an MMA setting by virtue of no fighter having trained to defend them. The logic is bulletproof. BULLETPROOF.
Example #3 of my theory: The vicious German suplex KO which Saygid Arslanaliev used to put away Mishal Alfad in their lightweight battle at One Championship 38. Though the suplex doesn't knock Alfad out by itself, it does succeed in demoralizing him to the point that he all but submits to Arslanaliev's will (and the punches that followed). Why? Because he just got taken to Suplex City like a kid wrestling his big brother and did nothing to stop it. You don't just get to recover from stuff like that.
In conclusion, y'all fighters need to work less on that monster overhand right of yours and start boning up on clotheslines, suplexes, and moonsaults.
