Khabib Nurmagomedov hasn't had the best relationship with the UFC, despite his latest spotlight. After being offered two contracts for #UFC205, It's hard to deny he didn't get royally screwed over. Sure, the fight between him and Tony Ferguson is for an interim title, but it's just not the same. As Nurgomedov would say, 'you know this.' Fedor Emelianenko, the legend himself, spoke out about the UFC's handling of his Russian comrade on today's The MMA Hour.
The UFC have been accused in the past about intentionally keeping certain people away from title shots, Demian Maia certainly fits that category, now the same is being said about Nurmagomedov by none other than #FedorEmelianneko. Even if Nurmagomedov holds the interim title high at #UFC209 and screams for the 'chicken,' there's no promise he'll get to fight #ConorMcGregor.
So, the question is if the UFC would want to have Nurmagomedov as the champion at all? The MMA politics, hypothetical or otherwise, behind the scenes are unknown to us, but there may be a reason why Nurmagomedov forced Joe Rogan to admit himself to everyone that he deserves the title shot. Adjust your tin foil hats as necessary.
