Even though he's been hinting at retirement since winning last year's RIZIN Open Weight Grand Prix (and has already retired two or three times in the past), it looks like Mirko Cro Cop will be taking just one last fight before he calls it quits for good. But with the vast majority of the opponents he'd like to enact revenge against either in the UFC or retired, just who would Cro Cop's final bout be against?
The answer, obviously, is Fedor Emelianenko.
Taking to Facebook this morning, the former K1, PRIDE, and UFC star called out "The Last Emperor" to a rematch of their instant classic from PRIDE Conflict 2005 as his parting wish.
For a brief moment last year, it seemed as if Cro Cop and Emelianenko would in fact be doing battle under the RIZIN banner as part of the aforementioned grand prix – that was, until Emelianenko was scooped up by Bellator to face Matt Mitrione.
That being said, there isn't a whole lot stopping this fight from coming to fruition. While "The Last Emperor" has stated his desire to end his career in Bellator, it wouldn't exactly be out of character for the Scott Coker-led promotion to sign Cro Cop to a one-off deal and reap all the rewards that would come with it. Fedor has stated before that he only has a couple fights left in him, and Cro Cop should be eligible to compete in the States in November of this year following the dust-up with USADA that saw him exit the UFC back in 2015.
With the UFC terminating the remaining fights on Cro Cop's contract following said USADA dust-up, this rematch would easily be the most fitting fight for both legends to end their career on, so someone, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD make this happen.
