Both Thompson and Masvidal have spoken of their desire to fight one another in recent times, and the two weren't shy about talking about the prospect of a future showdown between the pair of them.
"We want it, we definitely want it," Thompson said. "We definitely want to get together and get out there in the middle of the Octagon and face off. I mean, obviously you saw him in his last fight, which I thought he won against Demian Maia. I think he's a very good striker and I think it would be fireworks man--let's go."
Masvidal seemingly shared Thompson's enthusiasm for the fight to happen.
"Hell yeah," Masvidal said. "It's going to happen man, hopefully it's going to happen."
The mood between the two was jovial throughout and they were highly complimentary of each other's skillsets when asked what they respected about one another. While happy to sing the praises of Thompson, Masvidal wasn't quite so flattering when it came to talking about the UFC middleweight champion, #MichaelBisping.
A fan asked the three fighters which of the current UFC champions would they like to face and why. Masvidal shot straight from the hip with his answer.
"Woodley, he's the champion, but he's my boy so if we had to fight for the belt, we'd do it no questions asked," Masvidal said. "But if I could break somebody's face on the UFC roster, it'd be Michael Bisping for sure."
But the fun didn't end there. Later on in the session, Thompson was asked for his thoughts on #ONEChampionship welterweight champion, Ben Askren. Thompson was aware of Askren criticisms of him, but stopped short of firing back.
"I know he's talked a lot of trash about me," Thompson said. "He doesn't bother me one bit. He's a good grappler--that's his thing. As a fighter I think he's a good fighter, but as a human being, I don't know him well enough to comment on that. I never really thought about him to be honest with you."
Fingers crossed the next time we see Thompson and Masvidal will be inside the UFC Octagon standing across from one another.
