Counting down for the nostalgia bomb in three, two, one...

We still have UFC 207 coming fast on the horizon but this isn't about that. This is about the dudes who stayed up downing energy drinks and eating pizza bites in the wee hours of the morning watching a sketchy Japanese stream.

If you are still with me this far, you know we're talking about Pride 2.0 AKA Rizin. While Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva aren't going to be fighting (this year), Muhammed "King Mo"Lawal steps in for Silva fresh off his win at Bellator.

Oh yeah, and the boulder-fisted Shane Carwin? He's out too. But a lone desperado of lore threw his cowboy hat into the ring, and under that hat reveals some sort of multi-colored flame pattern on his head. Heath Herring steps in to face the Iranian beast, Amir Aliakbari.

That's one of the double-edged swords of booking warriors from a begotten era: Sometimes they just can't make it to the ring. The good thing is though, that while Rizin wants to keep the spirit of the vintage banner alive, they've also been trying to promote the new torch-bearing talent. This allows for easy swaps for violent bouts.

We have to wait until next year for the hyped return of , but dropping out of the sky from nowhere is nothing but fun. And sure, while it's no , mowed through the Rizin heavyweight grand prix last year in devastating fashion. It'll be interesting to see how he deals with .
