Jon Jones will be grappling Dan Henderson at FloGrappling's Submission Underground 2 this upcoming Sunday, but that doesn't mean he can escape from any type of Daniel Cormier talk. The two rivals simply can't get away from each other. There's has been an on again, off again, on again, off again relationship. Hopefully they'll meet again when Jon Jones returns from his suspension in 2017.
So with Jones suspended from the UFC, some are seeing a loophole to get Jones/Cormier 2 under the bright lights sooner rather than later via a grappling match. Unfortunately for (Cormier?), #JonJones told FOX Sports he isn't interested.
"That would be a hell of a match but no I wouldn't want to play with Cormier at all. Me and Cormier's storyline is so big and important to me. I wouldn't want to give him any false sense of security or anything."
So we'll have to hope Cormier can recover from his recent groin surgery, fight Anthony Johnson around March or April (at best), then we'll finally (maybe) have the Jones/Cormier hybrid grappling/martial arts match. What's that sport called? UFC?
Let's look at just a few of Cormier's takedowns (in MMA). There's a good chance his slams of Hendo are a precursor to what Jones is going to do to the legend this weekend.
