With three, straight wins at strawweight and a fight of the night performance Saturday against the surging Angela Hill, Jessica Andrade has "absolutely" earned a title fight according to UFC president Dana White. The Brazilian's war may not have been the highest billed strawweight contest on the Houston UFC Fight Night 104 card, but it certainly had the highest stakes as a likely title challenger eliminator.
After three torrid winning rounds against Hill, White said he can't wait to see Andrade battle reigning 115lbs queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk. “When you see the way [Andrade] fought tonight, just imagine those two squaring off and the absolute war that will be,” White said on the FS1 post-event show.
“That’s going to be a fun fight.”
It sure would be. More importantly, it's the right fight to make at a time when many of those don't get made.
#JessicaAndrade should get White's promise in writing sooner than later, because the promoter is known for going back on his public promises of title shots for fighters and also of committing others to fights that they themselves have not yet agreed to.
