From Conan the Barbarian to Khal Drogo on #GameofThrones, actor Jason Momoa has played plenty of badass warriors over the years, so it's no surprise that he's become quite skilled at wielding a variety of different weapons. The #JusticeLeague star stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night to show off his abilities with throwing axes while promoting his new Netflix series Frontier.
Momoa, who plays an ax throwing outlaw on the show, gave the late-night host some tips for how to properly launch the deadly weapons at a target. Apparently the first step towards mastering throwing axes is making sure that you start off each training session with a tall glass of Guinness. #Aquaman would be proud.
"I'm a better shot when I have one," Momoa joked before giving Kimmel the lesson.
Momoa brought along axes from home that he actually made himself, crafting a special Frontier version of the weapon as a gift for Kimmel. Luckily, no one lost a limb during the demonstration, which featured several failed attempts before Momoa went beast mode on the target.
"It's not like football, so you don't want to curve it," Momoa explained during the lesson. "Straight over the head."
The Hollywood star got a lot of practice with throwing axes during filming for Frontier. Momoa plays Declan Harp, a half-Irish, half-Native American man who leads a company against the British monopoly of the fur trade in Canada.
"It's basically me wrapped in fur killing a bunch of English people," Momoa joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "In a nutshell."
Perhaps Momoa can give Kimmel a lesson in how to fight with a trident when the press tour for Justice League kicks into high gear later this year.
