It looks like WWE star and sometimes actor, John Cena may be up for a starring role in Mark Millar's next big screen project.
The Kick-Ass and Kingsman creator recently tweeted an update on his latest upcoming superhero movie, Superior, and revealed that he has requested the wrestler be a part of the film. Millar was particularly impressed with Cena's comedy chops after watching him in comedian, Amy Schumer's breakout 2015 hit, Trainwreck.
While Millar didn't reveal what character he wanted Cena to play, odds are it would be the title role of Superior, a sort of Superman/Shazam type hero.
For those who haven't read the comic book, the story revolves around a 12-year-old boy with multiple sclerosis whose wish of becoming his favorite fictional superhero, Superior, is granted by an alien monkey. However, the creature isn't all that it seems, and the boy ends up being forced to choose between keeping his powers with dire consequences, or giving up the gift and watching his city burn.
Although Cena hasn't said anything about Superior, his Twitter account recently started following Millar's account, which may indicate that there's something cooking between the two.
If Cena does sign on to Superior, he wouldn't be the first WWE star to take on the role of a superhero.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to portray the villainous Black Adam in DC Comics' upcoming Shazam movie, which shares some of the same themes as Superior, since both feature children who are granted magical powers who then turn into bulking heroes.
Although Millar's latest project doesn't have a release date yet, it will feature the writing of Brandon and Phillip Murphy, with Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn set to produce, according to Variety.
