When it comes to boxing, few have the keen eye of trainer Freddie Roach. Today, he's widely recognized for his training of #MannyPacquiao, but Roach has been instrumental in the career of many top-tier boxers.
For that reason, Roach's breakdowns of fights typically show no favor and feature honest commentary, Pacquiao bouts excluded.
His latest assessment of the upcoming Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Gennady "GGG" Golovkin fight shows his feel for boxing is as sharp as ever.
"You could see that he was getting closer [to Khan]," Roach told BoxingScene.com. "He threw a few right hands to the body earlier and I think he was doing that to measure him. That was a beautiful move [to set up that right hand]. I think [Canelo is] becoming a better fighter than people think. Him [#Canelo] and #GGG is not just a walkover anymore. I think it's a good fight."
"Triple G is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, today I think. It's a very competitive fight at this point. I think its a good fight. I don't think it's a blowout. I think it's an interesting good fight."
That's a bold prediction.
