Acrobatic moves and fancy ninja flips aren't that useful inside the Octagon, but they do come in handy on #NinjaWarrior.
From the #UFC's Felice Herrig to the notorious Jason "Mayhem" Miller, MMA stars have tried their hand at the hit reality series competition over the years, but none have been able to conquer the famed Mount Midoriyama. However, that doesn't mean a fighter could never win the whole thing.
In honor of the new season of American Ninja Warriors' team installment, here are five mixed martial artists we think would crush on the show.
Donald Cerrone and John Dodson
UFC veterans, Donald Cerrone and John Dodson would make an all-star MMA Ninja Warrior team, and they already have an audition tape ready. During a trip to an obstacle course last year, the teammates showed off their impressive ninja skills, tackling all sorts of challenges at a gym inspired by the show.
20-year-old UFC phenom, Sage Northcutt isn't shy about showing off his insane ninja skills during his celebrations after wins inside the Octagon. The lightweight star would have a field day jumping from obstacle to obstacle.
In case you haven't noticed, a lot of the names on the list so far have amazing acrobatic skills, and Stephen Thompson is no different. Considering that "Wonderboy" lasted five rounds with a killer like UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, a Ninja Warrior run would be a piece of cake for the top contender.
Former UFC lightweight champ, Anthony Pettis would, without a doubt, crush on Ninja Warrior. "Showtime" already proved he can jump off walls and pull off high-flying moves inside the cage, so it wouldn't be a surprise if those skills translated to the obstacle course.
