Things are going to get pretty crazy when Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist finally team up in the upcoming Netflix miniseries The Defenders.
Since each of Marvel's New York City-based superheroes has a penchant for getting into brawls, expect fireworks when they finally throw down together. According to an interview with the Los Angeles Times, co-showrunner Marco Ramirez revealed that each crimefighter has their own distinct style of fighting, which should make for some interesting visuals when they finally come together.
While Daredevil is the "trained boxer" of the team who tries to finish every opponent with each blow, Ramirez says that Luke Cage is a different kind of fighter "who will cover a child, he will use his body defensively." As for Jessica Jones, she's not a big fan of beating people up which, “as an attitude, is so much fun to watch once she's fighting.” When it comes to Iron Fist, though, he may have the skills of an ancient kung fu master, but not the patience.
“Danny Rand is kind of hot-headed, a little more naïve than the others," Ramirez told the LA Times. "He's very eager and gets himself into fights and bites off more than he can chew, a lot.”
While not much is known about Sigourney Weaver's villainous character, she's apparently a bit of a badass herself. Although she's not super into fighting, she's definitely not afraid to make a mess, as per her on-set conversation with Ramirez.
“[Weaver] said, ‘I’ve never been a martial arts kind of gal, I'm more of a hold-the-flamethrower kind of gal,’” Ramirez said. “I'd love to tattoo that interaction onto my forehead forever. She was really willing to do things, to really get dirty, it was wonderful.”
Marvel's The Defenders debuts on Netflix August 18.
