Even if you don't consider yourself a follower of jiu-jitsu, there are plenty of reasons that you should be following the career of BJJ whiz Jeff Glover. His Donkey Guard, much like Guy Fieri's Donkey Sauce, is not so much an evolution of one technique as it is a bastardized hybrid of multiple techniques that came before it, and, like Mr. Fieri's homonymous sauce, has firmly divided its respective community as being either the work of a genius or that of a madman.
The point is that Glover is a risk-taker, an innovator, and an educator, and that his unique combination of fearlessness and gaiety on the mat makes for some of the most bizarre and entertaining grappling matches out there, more often than not. At Battlefield FC 1 last weekend (aka the same event that featured an insane KO by triple spinning elbow), his match with Chae Wangi was no different.
Check out the crazy match in its entirety below.
Though the bout ultimately ended in a draw, it succeeded in being one of the most thrilling and often hilarious bouts of the night, furthering the narrative that Glover would no doubt be one of the most watchable stars in MMA should he ever decided to make the transition. It would give him a chance to try and even the score with Chad Mendes, if nothing else.
