Having finally closed the book on his rivalry with longtime foe, Urijah Faber, it looks like Dominick Cruz already has his next adversary lined up.

Cruz, who defeated Faber via one-sided unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC 199 this past June, will do battle with fellow #TeamAlphaMale product Cody Garbrandt at #UFC207 on December 30

Currently 5-0 in the Octagon, Garbrandt is fresh off a 48-second KO of Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202 in August -- beating Cruz's finish of the former WEC title challenger by 13 seconds in the process. It was the ninth knockout of Garbrandt's professional career, and followed similarly emphatic wins over fellow prospect Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88 in May and Augusto Mendes in February.

While it was originally expected that Cruz would be booked in a rematch against TJ Dillashaw next -- having defeated the former Alpha Male fighter to reclaim his bantamweight belt via controversial split decision at the start of the year -- it looks like matchmakers have different, fresher plans in mind.

Headlined by a women's bantamweight title bout between #RondaRousey and #AmandaNunes, the current UFC 207 lineup is as follows:

  • Amanda Nunes vs. Ronda Rousey
  • Dominick Cruz vs. Cody Garbrandt
  • Fabricio Werdum vs. Cain Velasquez
  • Matt Brown vs. Tarec Saffiedine
  • Neil Magny vs. Johny Hendricks
  • Alex Garcia vs. Mike Pyle
