Having finally closed the book on his rivalry with longtime foe, Urijah Faber, it looks like Dominick Cruz already has his next adversary lined up.
Currently 5-0 in the Octagon, Garbrandt is fresh off a 48-second KO of Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202 in August -- beating Cruz's finish of the former WEC title challenger by 13 seconds in the process. It was the ninth knockout of Garbrandt's professional career, and followed similarly emphatic wins over fellow prospect Thomas Almeida at UFC Fight Night 88 in May and Augusto Mendes in February.
While it was originally expected that Cruz would be booked in a rematch against TJ Dillashaw next -- having defeated the former Alpha Male fighter to reclaim his bantamweight belt via controversial split decision at the start of the year -- it looks like matchmakers have different, fresher plans in mind.
