It's Anthony Johnson and not Jon Jones who will be getting a crack at UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. The news was announced by UFC Tonight on Wednesday night.
The rematch will take place at UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada on Dec. 10.
Cormier and Johnson last fought each other back in May 2015 at UFC 187 for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. That night, Cormier survived an early knockdown as a result of a powerful Johnson punch, to submit 'Rumble' with a rear-naked choke in round three.
Since then, Cormier has defended his 205-pound title once, outpointing Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192 in October 2015. The Olympic wrestler was scheduled to defend his title for a second time at UFC 200 in July against Jones, but instead he fought Anderson Silva in a non-title bout, after Jones was pulled days before the historic card due to a potential USADA violation.
On the other hand, Johnson has put together three-straight knockout wins since losing to Cormier. The 32-year-old fighter defeated Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader, and most recently Glover Teixeira at UFC 202. All those wins have earned "Performance of the Night" bonuses for Johnson.
