Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones will wrap up his USADA suspension in July. Who he will face upon his return to the Octagon is that all anyone is talking about, especially Daniel Cormier, who currently holds the title that Jones once dominated.
“Take the fight with me, Jon Jones," Cormier said on UFC Tonight. "There are no tune-up fights in the UFC. Try to get your title back. Come meet your boy DC."
#JonJones was suspended once before and faced Ovince St Preux (who filled in for an injured Cormier) when he was reinstated to the roster, and fans and media alike felt his first fight back to the Octagon was underwhelming at best. Many wondered if a tune-up fight would be the best idea over facing the current champ after such a long layoff.
"It’s my rules, I’m the champ now," Cormier said. "The guy we saw against Ovince St Preux is the new USADA-regulated Jon Jones."
"I will beat him up July 29," Cormier said.
According to DC's Instagram he'll be at #UFC214 with or without Jones.
Jones and Cormier were meant to face-off at UFC 200, but Jones was flagged by #USADA and pulled from the main event just days before the bout.
