UFC president, Dana White said on an episode of UFC Unfiltered that female fighting icon, Ronda Rousey wants to fight Cris Cyborg at 140 pounds.
"Ronda wants to fight her," White said. "Ronda wants that fight."
Cyborg is the new, hot thing in women's MMA. She knocked out Lina Lansberg last Saturday at UFC Brasilia, her second fight in the UFC. She has emerged as the top draw in women's MMA after Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm. Holm was then submitted by Miesha Tate, and Tate was then submitted by Amanda Nunes.
Despite Cyborg's dominance, it is unclear if she will ever wear UFC gold. Cris fights at 145 pounds, but the largest weight class for women is 135 pounds. She fought Lansberg at 140 pounds, in a catchweight fight.
Cyborg said she wouldn't cut to 135 pounds because it would put her health at risk, so right now, her fights would have to take place at 140, at the lowest. White said there aren't enough fighters to create a 140-pound division just for Cyborg.
Rousey is rumored to make a return to the UFC, possibly in January. She has not fought since her knockout loss to Holm in 2015. A Rousey vs. Cyborg match-up could be one of the biggest PPV draws in UFC history.
