We knew the #UFC205 storm was coming and we braced ourselves like that "Game of Thrones" meme.
Things have been relatively quiet in both camps, other than Eddie Alvarez hiring Jose Aldo's "Conor Clone" and Conor McGregor going to release his scientific training methods that he used to become bigger, faster, stronger. All that changed today with the UFC 205 conference call as over 28,000 people listened live.
Bedlam ensued and McGregor of course was in top form, waxing poetically about history and later on in the conference call getting incredibly violent.
Here are five of the best McGregor quotes from the call.
"It hasn't been done before. It's never been close to a reality in this game in the UFC and to do it on the monumental stage like this. Of course this will be one of my shining moments." - McGregor on possibility of winning two titles.
"I run this whole thing. I run New York. I run this whole ship. Without me none of this happens. I run this whole sh-t. Everyone in this game does what they're f-cking told except for me and rightly f-cking so. If I say you're on the prelims, you're on the f-cking prelims, If I say main even, it's the f-cking main event." - McGregor on other fighters complaining about his privileged treatment.
I feel [the fans] are going to see something they haven't seen before. I'm going to toy with this man. I will rearrange his facial structure. His wife and kids wont recognize him again. His friends will know he's not the same after this contest. [...] You're never, ever going to be the same. Your kids are going to beg 'daddy, please don't go again!'" - On what to expect during the main event of #UFC205.
A Golden Exchange about Frankie Edgar
McGregor: I don't care who [Alvarez] trains with. I will kill every one of your training partners. This fight should have been me and Frankie Edgar, too bad Frankie wasn't good enough to cut it.
Alvarez: You ran from f-cking Frankie for two years like a little b-tch and picked everyone but him. You're f-cked, my man.
McGregor: He had fifty minutes to do what I did in thirteen seconds.
Alvarez: No one in America can understand when you say' thirteen' with your funny accent.
"Hard work pays and it shows me that if you push and work hard good things happen. It's an honor to be changing the whole game, Whether it's someone on the prelims getting more exposure, the company, new cities, new TV deals. I am honored to be giving back getting more exposure, It's an honor to be giving back, it's an honor to be who I am and i'm blessed." - McGregor giving out an inspirational humble brag.
All of this is just one half of the absolute calamity contained within the call.
As the world gears up for fight week, hell will surely all break lose with the UFC Countdown show ready for air and the first weigh-ins ever in New York City for a truly history card.
