As MMA's Irish ambassador to the world, Conor McGregor gets to rub shoulders with some pretty important people from time to time. This week, the UFC superstar got a chance to dine like a diplomat with the family of the former Italian prime minister.
In a Friday morning Instagram post, the lightweight champion revealed that he recently shared an amazing Italian meal with the team behind Silvio Berlusconi, the controversial ex-head of state and billionaire media mogul. McGregor wasn't there to improve Irish-Italian relations though, as he was all business during his time with the "Italian empire."
I had dinner with the Italian empire last night. Eating with the Italians is always an interesting experience. From the Fertitta's to the Berlusconi's, the Italians dine better than them all. We discussed the bread and the butter, over some bread and some butter. Thank you to the Berlusconi team for their hospitality and I look forward to our work going forward. Il tempo e denaro! Time is money!
Considering McGregor's love for Lamborghinis and soccer, it's not a shocker that he's trying to get in business with the Berlusconis. The former prime minster is also the longtime owner of the Italian football club A.C. Milan.
Since it looks like McGregor is courting politicians with business backgrounds during his time away from the Octagon, it's only a matter of time until the champ jets down to Mar-a-Lago for a meal with Dana White's political pal.
