It's only been a few weeks since #Bellator announced they'd kick off 2017 with a blockbuster fight between former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and newly signed UFC vet Chael Sonnen and we already have our first intense stare down.

The pair attended a pre-fight press conference where the words exchanged were heated to say the least, followed by an even more uncomfortable face off.

Separated only by Bellator President Scott Coker, Sonnen and Ortiz spewed insults at each other fitting for a high school blacktop squabble.

"He said he's here to replace me, but you can't replace a legend like me" said Ortiz. "I'm gonna smash him, let him move on, let Wanderlei [Silva] smash him."

Ortiz is of course referring to fellow light heavyweight #WanderleiSilva who is currently on suspension for evading a drug test in 2014 and who is rumored to be the next opponent for Sonnen.

"I'm going to do something that all the Brazilian fans want to see done," #TitoOrtiz continued. "And that's seeing him smashed into the canvas."

Of course Sonnen, never shy with words, wasn't going to let Ortiz get away with that:

Sonnen says that no matter the outcome, it will be a highlight reel win for him.

"If I am wrong and I go down," Sonnen said. "I will go down like a gangster and I will be firing the entire time."

He also brought up Ortiz's alleged financial troubles and rumors (that he started) of Tito's car getting repossessed.

"Is anyone going past the homeless shelter on their way home?" he asked the crowd. "Can anyone give Tito a ride, because he's lost his wheels."

If the actual fight is anything like their trash talk this will be a one memorable fight.

The pair face off as the main event for Bellator 170 on January 21, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA.
