Whether it's taking on the underworld of Gotham City as #Batman or playing a bootlegger on the wrong side of the law in his new flick Live by Night, actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck tends to get into a lot of fights in his onscreen work.
During a recent discussion with the Irish publication Independent.ie to promote his new Prohibition era drama, Affleck talked about how mixed martial arts has influenced fight choreography in major motion pictures.
“MMA is taking over in terms of the style that people use stunt-wise for fighting”, Affleck said. “People now recognize that as the most real form of combat and it’s now seeping into movies. It influence can be seen in all kinds of movies.”
As one of the A-list celebrity stakeholders that now owns part of the #UFC, Affleck has deeper appreciation for the sport than most other celebrities. He's also had to work on his own fight skills to play both a #DCComics superhero as well as a gun-toting math whiz in The Accountant.
In particular, Batfleck is a fan of Irish superstar #ConorMcGregor. The Batman v Superman star hopes McGregor gets a chance to take on Floyd Mayweather Jr., although he knows it's going to take a lot of money to make that happen.
“I’m a big Conor McGregor fan,” Affleck. “I think he’s very impressive. I’d love to see – someone was saying he was going to fight Mayweather. I think that would be an amazing fight. I guess they would have to work a deal out or whatever, but that would be cool.”
This isn't the first time that Affleck has spoken to the press about McGregor. In an interview with Reuters leading up to the release of BvS, the actor compared his version of Batman with the UFC champion, in terms of their fighting styles.
