The ultimate team-up of '80s action movie heroes is finally happening.
According to Variety, martial arts legend #JackieChan and The Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger are set to star in the upcoming fantasy action film Viy 2. The pair of cinema icons will join Dutch actor Rutger Hauer in the Russian-Chinese flick by producer, Alexey Petrukhin.
Viy 2 is a sequel to Viy, a 2014 horror thriller that's loosely based on the creepy novella by author, Nikolai Gogol. The original film did pretty well at Russian box offices before being distributed in the United Kingdom and around the world as The Forbidden Kingdom (not to be confused with the 2008 adventure flick of the same name starring Chan and Jet Li).
Viy follows the story of an 18th century cartographer named Jonathan Green (played by UK actor Jason Flemyng) who goes on a scientific expedition through Europe and Asia and ends up lost in a small Ukrainian village. Green encounters peculiar villagers and other #StrangerThings, like demons and monsters.
As of now, it's unclear as to what roles Schwarzenegger and Chan will play in the upcoming sequel, although a post on Hauer's official website may offer some clues.
The cartographer will unexpectedly face a lot of breathtaking discoveries, encounter bizarre creatures, meet with Chinese princesses, and confront deadly martial arts masters and even the king of all dragons - the Dragon King.
It will be interesting to see how these legendary stars actually fit into the plot of Viy 2.
Viy 2 is expected to hit theaters some time next year.
