UFC President Dana White has been fuming since the announcement of former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones' one year suspension. And today, just shy of the historic #UFC205 event, White dropped a bombshell about the future of Jones.
"I would never take the risk of headlining a card with Jon Jones again," he said to Luke Thomas, Host of 'The Luke Thomas Show.
Jones was suspended by #USADA following a failed drug test stemming from sexual enhancement pills, which forced Jones off #UFC200. He is still awaiting punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission which could increase his suspension further.
Due in part to his removal from UFC 200 (just two days before the event) the card somewhat underperformed with fans (despite Anderson Silva swooping in to save the day). This was, after all, the second time Jones had been removed from a card due to issues outside of the Octagon. The first time he was removed, and subsequently suspended after being involved in a hit-in-run accident in April of 2015.
"Time off is nobody's friend in the sport," said White who also said he's never seen a guy squander more talent.
Jones will be out until at least July 2017, perhaps longer if the #NSAC adds an additional suspension. What could've been...
