UFC featherweight is taking his bout with Frankie Edgar very seriously. So seriously that he's promised he'll fight like this is the first fight of his career.

"I’m fighting like there’s a gun to my head, like there’s a gun to my family’s head," he said to Champions. "This is a do or die situation and it’s go in there and kill this dude. There’s no other choice. I don’t have other options. This is my only option, so I must make make it. That’s the type of pressure I put on myself."

Stephens is coming off a win at UFC Fight Night Las Vegas when he claimed a unanimous decision victory over former bantamweight champ Renan Barao, and is working is way to the top of the stacked featherweight division.

"I want the big fights. I want the fights that are gonna challenge me and that’s what I thrive on," he said. "I need somebody to push me to the next level so I can have these kind of iconic legendary fights and what better place to do it than Madison Square Garden."

"My goal is Frankie Edgar come Saturday night," he said. "My spirits are higher and the time has come and it’s right around the corner, and I’m really tasting it. I feel like a dog right now. I can really taste it."

He will face Edgar as the FOX Sports 1 prelims main event this Saturday live from Madison Square Garden.
