Jon Jones knows what it is like to get piled on when you fall from the top and sympathizes heavily with Ronda Rousey's current situation. Jones offered words of sympathy and inspiration for Rousey after the former UFC women's bantamweight champion suffered a brutal 48-second loss to Amanda Nunes at #UFC207.
With both Jones and Rousey dealing with images that will need rehabbing -- albeit in drastically different areas -- the former UFC light heavyweight champion knows that he can share a common bond with Rousey in the form of the number of haters they deal with. And with that, came this tweet from Jones that was perfect for their current situation.
It is not known exactly when this photo was taken but it fits perfectly with both fighters' current narrative.
This act of kindness from Jones also has a backstory. Jones remembers fondly when Rousey offered her words of encouragement to Bones while he served his suspension in 2015.
“Ronda Rousey definitely reached out to me,” Jones told Ariel Helwani in late 2015. “Ronda has actually been very supportive of me, she texted me quite a few times. She even invited me to come and stay at her beach house in California. She said Jonny you are going to come back from this. Anything I can do for you, let me know."
The question now is whether we will see both Jones and Rousey gain redemption in 2017.
