To hear it directly from Nick Jonas:

"Kingdom is a show about family and the struggles of this particular family and the complications that come with committing your life to becoming a fighter."

Television's first scripted MMA series, "Kingdom" offers an edgy and dramatic look into the lives of fighters based at southern California's fictional Navy St. gym.

Starring Nick Jonas, Frank Grillo, Matt Lauria, and Jonathan Tucker, "Kingdom" was created by Byron Balasco, and presents an authentic portrayal of mixed martial arts through its numerous fight scenes and regional championship scenarios.

In addition to regular cameos by professional MMA fighters, "Kingdom" features "fight scenes [that] are excellently choreographed and bring a realism to television that is rarely found for combat sports," according to Champions Senior Editor Andreas Hale.

Thanks to technical advisors Joe "Daddy" Stevenson, a former UFC title challenger and winner, and MMA head coach Greg Jackson, the actors deliver the action with a believable nuance and aesthetic. Champions contributor, and King of the Cage three-division champ, Juan Archuleta also works on the show in a technical capacity, while fighting out of the fictitious Navy St. gym when he competes at .

Now in its third, and final, season "Kingdom" airs on Wednesdays at 8 P.M. EST on DirecTV's Audience Network.
